Upper Newport Bay Programs

Education is just a part of what the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve offers the community. Each year almost one million visitors leave the noise and exhaust of city streets behind to bike, fish, walk, kayak, bird watch, or simply relax and observe nature in the serene beauty of the Bay. The Preserve provides an unprecedented enhancement to the community through its accessibility to the public, and the fact that it borders an ecosystem that has become one of the most endangered in the state - the Coastal Wetlands. This environmentally sensitive area contributes to the outstanding quality of life in Orange County. The Mission Statement for the new Upper Newport Bay - Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center best summarizes its commitment to the community:

School Tours
Interpretive Center School Tours are being offered in addition to the Shellmaker Island School Tours and together we cover grades K - 6! We are looking forward to expanding our opportunities to increase the appreciation and sense of stewardship in the Children of Orange County for our natural and cultural resources.

Please email us or call (949) 923-2295 for more information or to schedule a school tour.
