A.O. Carpenter: Photographer of the Mendocino Frontier

A.O. Carpenter chronicled life in Mendocino County around the turn of the twentieth century. He captured large panoramic views of the coastal logging, tanbark, and shipping industries, as well as the inland region's bounty of natural attractions and agricultural products. Carpenter also took an important body of photographs depicting Pomo Indian individuals and communities, and early Anglo residents.
