Beach Stair Cage Replacement

Beach Stair Cage Replacement Project at Dana Point Harbor

Install a new chain-link stair cage around the beach stairs near the Ocean Institute within the City of Dana Point. This work will maintain a safe access point to the beach.

WHAT: 

  • Removal of existing chain-link stair cage at the beach entrance at the northwest end of Dana Point Harbor, near the Ocean Institute.
  • Installation of new aluminum coated chain-link stair cage, maintaining the same height and size of the previous stair cage.
  • Beach stairway access will be closed for the two-week duration of the project.

BACKGROUND:

The California Coastal Commission has issued Coastal Development Permit De Minimus Waiver 5-25-0426-W for the project.

WHEN: 

Anticipated Construction Duration:
Feb. 17 - March 3, 2026

Working Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Working hours and schedule will vary due to tides, inclement weather, ocean conditions and other factors.
