Enjoy an easy 2.5-mile hike with your family in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park!  Starting at the James Dilley Preserve, we will hike one of the most diverse areas of the park to Barbara’s Lake and back. The hike is moderate but includes uneven terrain and approximately 45 feet of elevation gain. Please wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection and bring water.

Participants 18 and younger must be accompanies by a guardian.

If you use the wilderness parks for hiking, biking, photography or just relaxing, trail work might be right up your alley!  Join us as we work together to protect the fragile habitat and increase the sustainability of our trails at Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. 

No experience is necessary and gloves and tools will be provided such as loppers, picks, shovels and McLeods. Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and sun protection and bring water. Expect to hike up to 4 miles while carrying tools.

Nature can inspire creativity in all of us! Join OC Parks naturalists as we explore how UV wavelengths secretly shape the world around us! During this program, participants will create their own glow-in-the-dark paintings and enjoy a short 2-mile hike with moderate elevation gain. Please wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection and bring water.

Please be aware this is a fitness hike and not for beginners; the pace is approximately a 19-minute mile. Raise your heart rate and your spirits on this strenuous, fast-paced, 6.6-mile hike over steep and uneven terrain with 1,100 feet of elevation gain. Please wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection and bring water.

We will meet at the Bommer Ridge Trail West Entrance located at the Ridge Park cul-de-sac in Newport Coast.

Join a naturalist on a guided nature meditation walk through Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. 

Unplug and relax outdoors, allowing your natural sense of wonder to engage in playful activities, deepening connections with the outside world and ourselves. This program will begin on the patio of Nix Nature Center and will include a brief walk and tea ceremony of reciprocity. Please note this activity involves making and drinking tea from sustainably sourced native plants and participants are asked to notify park staff upon arrival of any food allergies or sensitivities. Please wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection and bring water.

Depending on the time of year, volunteers will assist with various stewardship activities including removing non-native plants, hand watering, seed collection and/or planting of native plants. No experience is necessary and all tools will be provided. Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and sun protection, and bring water. Come out and join the team to help restore the wild lands we all enjoy!

Join OC Parks and Laguna Canyon Foundation in beautiful Laguna Coast Wilderness Park at our native plant nursery as we care for native plants from their seed stage to their mature, ready-to-be planted stage. Volunteers may collect seeds, sow seeds in flats, bump plants up, plant at restoration sites, sterilize plant containers and help maintain the nursery.

Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, layered clothing and sun protection and bring water.

The program will meet at the Willow Canyon Staging Area, 20070 Laguna Canyon Rd., Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
