Located within OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space, Red Rock Wilderness features more than 8 miles of new trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding along with a scenic overlook that offers 360-degree views of the nearby iconic red rocks, Black Star Canyon Wilderness, Irvine Lake, Santiago Canyon and beyond. 3 miles of multi-use trails within Loma Ridge Nature Preserve, part of OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space, will also be accessible for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Rain or inclement weather will cancel the program.

Rancho Days Fiesta Returns to Heritage Hill Historical Park May 3

(Lake Forest, Calif.) - Discover the rich history of Orange County’s rancho era at the annual Rancho Days Fiesta on Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Heritage Hill Historical Park. This event celebrates the unique history of rancho and Native American cultures through interactive activities, live music, dance performances and more.

Free to attend and fun for all ages, Rancho Days Fiesta features a variety of activities including engaging exhibits, cultural performances, craft workshops, piñata breaking and more. Attendees will enjoy vibrant Folklórico and Native American dances, witness educational Charro horseback riding and roping demonstrations and explore the historic buildings at Heritage Hill Historical Park with guided tours provided by Amigos de la Colina volunteer docents. Pets are welcome in outdoor areas only and must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet. 

“We are thrilled to welcome visitors of all ages to celebrate Rancho Days Fiesta and learn about Orange County’s storied past,” said Supervisor Donald P. Wagner, Orange County Board of Supervisors. “The County of Orange is dedicated to preserving this important legacy and we invite the community to celebrate its rich history together at Rancho Days Fiesta. ”

Heritage Hill Historical Park spans 4.1 acres and includes four fully restored and furnished historic buildings that span the early history of the Saddleback Valley and El Toro area from the Mexican Rancho era to the founding of the town of El Toro through the citrus farming days of the early 20th century. Join OC Parks at Rancho Days Fiesta to experience the charm and excitement of the rancho era.

Celebrate summertime outdoors with 9 free concerts and 12 free movie screenings at OC Parks 
June 6 to August 29, 2025. 

(Orange County, Calif.) – The County of Orange and OC Parks are thrilled to unveil the lineup for the highly anticipated 2025 OC Parks Summer Concert Series and Sunset Cinema film series. These signature outdoor events offer fantastic opportunities for families and friends to enjoy unforgettable nights of live music and movie screenings at some of Orange County’s most beautiful regional parks all summer long. All events are free to enjoy, with free parking and food and drink options available for purchase. 

OC Parks Summer Concert Series returns with nine free outdoor concerts Thursday evenings, June 19 to Aug. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music from exceptional bands and artists at Mile Square Regional Park, Mason Regional Park, Craig Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park and Bluff Park at Salt Creek Beach. Whether you’re into Latin rhythms, rock, pop or country, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Summer concerts kick off June 19 at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley with Grammy-award winning band Ozomatli, followed by other must-see performances including Doin’ Time (Sublime tribute), Flashback Heart Attack (80’s hits), the Grammy award-winning Mariachi Divas and The Pistol Blonde (female country cover). Special tribute acts include Dream Like Taylor (Taylor Swift), Elton The Early Years and No Duh: The Ultimate Tribute to No Doubt. Boy Band Review will close out the 2025 OC Parks Summer Concert Series at Bluff Park at Salt Creek Beach, performing top hits from popular boy bands and more!

OC Parks Sunset Cinema film series brings recent blockbusters and beloved classic films to scenic parks across Orange County. Experience 12 free movie screenings Friday nights, beginning June 6 through Aug. 29, at Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Craig Regional Park, Mason Regional Park, Yorba Regional Park, Laguna Niguel Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park and Bluff Park at Salt Creek Beach. Guests of all ages are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy lively pre-show entertainment such as character meet-and-greets, DJ-led games and more. Cinema events begin at 6 p.m. with screenings starting after sundown, at approximately 8 p.m.

Friday movie nights kick off June 6 and include Despicable Me 4 (2024), Charlie’s Angels (2000), Inside Out 2 (2024), Hercules (1997), Mufasa: The Lion King (2024), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024), Miss Congeniality (2000), Twisters (2024), The Greatest Showman (2017), Elemental (2023), Shrek (2001) and Moana 2 (2024). 

“We’re excited to continue this wonderful summer tradition for the community to enjoy with their families,” said Chair Doug Chaffee, Orange County Board of Supervisors. “The OC Parks Summer Concert Series and Sunset Cinema film series offer a fantastic opportunity to experience free live music and films in the beautiful settings of Orange County’s regional parks, bringing people together to create long-lasting special memories.”

OC Parks Summer Concert Series and OC Parks Sunset Cinema film series are open to the public of all ages and free to attend with free parking. Food trucks will serve a variety of tasty food options at each event and a beer and wine garden will be available to those 21 and older. Gather your chairs, blankets, friends and family and enjoy free concerts and movie screenings this summer with OC Parks.

Capistrano County Beach Shoreline Project

This project has been completed as of April 2025. 

Replace existing 240 feet of geotextile bags with rock at Capistrano Beach within the City of Dana Point. This temporary measure is a joint project between OC Parks and OC Public Works. Public access and parking may be limited during construction.

What:

•   Removal of existing geotextile sandbags. Sand used in the geotextile sandbags will be deposited onto beach area.
•   Construction of riprap in the central section adjacent to the parking area.

PARTIAL PARKING LOT CLOSURE
A portion of parking spaces will be closed.

DETOURS AND SAFETY
Flaggers will direct pedestrians and bicyclists to avoid the work area. Watch for additional traffic control measures including construction signage.

BACKGROUND
Sand-filled geotextile bags were initially approved by the California Coastal Commission (CCC) as a temporary solution to protect the seaward edge of the park. The CCC requires removal of all sand cubes/sandbags and has approved replacement using rock, which will also remain as a temporary measure while more permanent initiatives continue to be further developed.

Jr. Ranger Adventure: Peters Canyon Regional Park

*This program takes place at Peters Canyon Regional Park, 8548 E. Canyon View Ave., Orange, CA 92869*

The OC Parks Jr. Ranger Program encourages park guests to explore the outdoor world within OC Parks by developing a sense of belonging, becoming a part of nature and feeling empowered to be stewards of Orange County’s natural and cultural resources.

Participants will explore Peters Canyon Regional Park, complete activities and take the OC Parks Jr. Ranger Oath to earn a unique Jr. Ranger badge. 

This program will begin at the parking lot near the flagpole.

This program is designed for ages 7 to 12, but all are welcome.

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the program. Sunscreen, sturdy footwear and water are recommended.

The program is free and parking in the lot is $3 per vehicle. Inclement weather will cancel the program.
