Background and Timeline:

Request for Qualifications/Request for Proposals Milestones

  • March 16, 2016 – County releases Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
  • June 20, 2016 – Solicitation closes with three proposers responding
  • Sept. 1, 2016 – All three proposers short-listed by Evaluation Committee to receive the Request for Proposals (RFP)
  • Oct. 19, 2016 – County releases RFP to the three pre-qualified proposers
  • May 4, 2017 – The RFP closes with two proposers responding
  • Oct. 17, 2017 -- The Board of Supervisors selects Dana Point Harbor Partners (DPHP) as the primary and Dana Point Partners as the alternate developer to lease, develop and manage certain portions of Dana Point Harbor and authorizes the Chief Real Estate Officer to negotiate an Option and Ground Lease Agreement with DPHP.
  • On July 17, 2018 the Board approved the option and lease agreements with Dana Point Harbor Partners LLC and Dana Point Harbors Partners Drystack LLC to plan, design, permit, fund, construct, renovate, market, and operate and manage the certain portions of Dana Point Harbor.

  • On October 29, 2018, the County and Dana Point Harbor Partners LLC and Dana Point Harbors Partners Drystack LLC execute the Master and Drystack Leases for the revitalization of Dana Point Harbor.
