Large Crowds Expected April 1

Many County regional parks are expecting large crowds April 1 due to Easter and Persian New Year.

Easter, which falls on April 1 this year, is typically one of the busiest holidays at all OC Parks regional parks, and particularly Irvine and Mile Square regional parks. Persian New Year also draws large crowds to Mason and Laguna Niguel regional parks.

On Sunday, parks will fill to parking capacity very early in the day. Once this happens, visitors must find other legal parking outside of the parks and walk in. Some parks will direct vehicles to nearby overflow parking areas.

Shelters at all regional parks will only be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with at least one person present at all times. No reservations will be accepted for April 1.

While we invite everybody to come enjoy the parks, please be sure to clean up and throw away trash. Items like plastic eggs and Easter grass pose hazards to wildlife.

Spring-summer regional park hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Carbon Canyon, Clark, Craig, Laguna Niguel, Mason, Mile Square and Yorba regional parks. Irvine Regional Park opens at 6 a.m.

Streets surrounding the parks may experience heavy traffic throughout the day, and all parks may be busier than normal throughout both holiday weekends. All County Ordinances will be enforced for the safety and enjoyment of visitors.

Please note that regional park parking fees April 1 will be up to $7-15, depending on the park. OC Parks annual parking passes are valid both days without additional fees, but do not apply to overflow parking outside of the parks.
