(Santa Ana, CA) – OC Community Resources Director Steve Franks announced Aug. 30 that Stacy Blackwood has been appointed as the new Director of OC Parks.
Stacy will replace Mark Denny, who was selected as the Chief Operating Officer for the County in July after running OC Parks for the past five years. As Director of OC Parks, she will have responsibility for a department that manages over 60,000 acres of open space, wilderness, beaches, and parkland.
Stacy has over 17 years of professional experience in finance and project management in local government, with the last 8 focused on City and County parks management and operations. In her current role, she is serving in a dual capacity responsible for full management of both the North Operation Division of OC Parks and the Central Project Office for OC Community Resources department.
Stacy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University in Texas. She also has a Masters degree from the University of California, San Diego and a second Masters degree in Architecture.
“Stacy is an extremely well qualified professional who understands the needs and significant responsibilities related to managing the OC Parks system,” said Steve Franks. He added that “We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber and are confident in her ability to continue leading OC Parks in the vision set forth by the Board of Supervisors.”
