Canyon Fire 2 Closures

Tuesday, Oct. 10 5:30 p.m.: The Canyon Fire 2 remains an active incident. Residential evacuation orders have been lifted, but parks will remain closed for burn damage assessment and repairs. This may take an extended period of time, so we ask for your patience and understanding. We will post updates as available.

Irvine Regional Park

  • The park remains closed.
  • The OC Zoo and many other structures, including the Irvine Park Railroad and Outdoor Education Center are intact.
  • The evacuated zoo animals are slowly being returned to the zoo. The zoo remains closed.
  • The stables sustained heavy damage and have been red-tagged.
  • The perimeter of the park sustained heavy burn damage.
  • The Irvine Ranch Open Space moving into Weir Canyon has significant damage.

Santiago Oaks Regional Park

  • The park remains closed.
  • Most structures remain intact.
  • Open space and natural habitats are heavily burned.

Peters Canyon Regional Park

  • The park remains closed.
  • Structures remain intact.
  • The park sustained heavy damage.
  • Initial assessment shows it took worst damage of three parks.

Tuesday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m:

  • Irvine Regional Park remains closed. Damage assessments are ongoing.
  • Santiago Oaks Regional Park remains closed. Damage assessments are ongoing.
  • Peters Canyon Regional Park remains closed. Damage assessments are ongoing.
  • The OC Zoo remains closed. Zoo animals were safely evacuated prior to the fire. Damage assessments are ongoing.
  • Yorba Regional Park is OPEN. Fire command has relocated to the Irvine Great Park.
