OC Fire Watch Volunteer
 | Thank you for your interest in the OC Fire Watch Program. OC Fire Watch is an arm of the OC Parks Adopt-A-Park Program.
Available sites: Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Caspers Wilderness Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, O’Neill Regional Park, Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park and Limestone Canyon & Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. Each two-person shift will be limited to two hours.
OC FIRE WATCH GENERAL VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION:
- Complete the On Line General Volunteer Application: : click here to be directed to the on line application
(UNDER AFFILIATION SECTION OF THE ON LINE APPLCIATION, PLEASE SELECT OC FIRE WATCH (first item on second column)).
- At the end of the On Line General Volunteer Application, volunteers will be prompted to print out/sign the OC Fire Watch Guidelines and Provisions. Please send signed Guidelines and Provisions to OC Parks Volunteer Services (1770 N Broadway, 4th Fl, Santa Ana, CA 92706-2606, fax 714-667-6519). Volunteers will also be prompted to print out the list of upcoming Program Orientation Meetings and OC Fire Watch Training Sessions.
- Attend ONE Program Orientation Meeting-POM: The orientation will last approximately two hours. Among items covered will be OC Parks Policies and Procedures, Benefits, Safety and specific OC Parks Site information. A mobile LiveScan will be at all (Available dates TBD).
- Attend ONE OC Fire Watch Training Session conducted by the Orange County Fire Authority: The training session will last approximately two hours. Among the items covered will be safety, communication procedures, map reading, and how to recognize and report potentially dangerous situations. (Available dates TBD).
- Live Scan Fingerprinting (volunteers 18 years old and over): LiveScan Fingerprinting has replaced ink fingerprinting. A Mobile Live Scan will be present at ALL Program Orientation Meetings-POM, FREE OF CHARGE
Once the OC Fire Watch Volunteer Screening is complete and the volunteer is accepted into the OC Fire Watch Program, volunteers will receive a welcome e-mail. The OC Fire Watch photo badge with lanyard will follow in the mail.
After completing both trainings, OC Parks Volunteer Services Coordinator will issue the following items: OC Fire Watch T-shirt with OC Fire Watch logo, hat with logo, vest with logo, fire watch car magnet, fire watch manual, wilderness first aid kit, ready bags for supplies, route/area maps, emergency phone numbers and procedures, disposable camera, flashlight, log book, light sticks, etc.
