The Season's Wildflowers

Many OC Parks – like Caspers Wilderness Park and Santiago Oaks Regional Park, above – were filled with colorful flowers early this spring, courtesy of the winter’s rain. However, many of the flowers are now going to seed, preparing for another show next year.

Caspers, Santiago Oaks and Laguna Coast Wilderness Park all bloomed with spring flowers. Due to a combination of an extended drought period and intense wildfires, followed by recent rains, this year’s flowering displays were particularly spectacular. However, Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, which burned extensively in the Santiago Fire, is closed to the public due to fire recovery efforts.

Remember, never pick the flowers. Leave them for others to enjoy – and to reseed for another beautiful show next year.
