La Pata Community Letter
Dear Community Members:
In Spring 2014, the County of Orange Public Works Department will break ground on an important transportation project - the La Pata Avenue Gap Closure and Camino Del Rio Extension Project (Project). The Project will improve South County mobility and reduce local traffic congestion by providing a north/south alternative for daily commuters and will ultimately provide an alternative access route in the event of an emergency, and will benefit the community by providing improved access to schools, residences, commercial areas, and recreational amenities.
The Project is the result of collaborative efforts by the County of Orange, the cities of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano, and members of the community.
OC Public Works is working to minimize the environmental impacts on the area and to the nearby residents that might occur as a result of Project construction. During the first stages, the focused excavation of solid waste material from the Prima Deshecha Landfill will result in earthmoving operations that may create odors and noise. The County is working hard to address any possible impacts to the community.
We appreciate your patience and support during construction of the Project. We are confident that, upon its completion, this transportation facility will provide greatly improved access for the community.
The primary public relations contact for this Project is Vanessa Barrientos. For the latest Project updates or to learn more about it, please call 844-452-7282 (844-4-LaPata) or email LaPata@ocpw.ocgov.com. Prior to the beginning of construction, the OC Public Works staff will host public meetings on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 and Saturday, March 15, 2014. Additional information regarding these meetings will be provided at a later date.
Thank you for your continued partnership efforts as we strive to achieve success for this major infrastructure project.
Making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services.
