Equestrian Ride: Tales and Trails of Fremont and Weir Canyons OC Parks - Irvine Ranch Open Space
Come bring your horse and join us on the sage-scented trail up and down gentle hills. The trail will take us under the towering overpass of the 241 Toll Road. We will see the foot of the Irvine Lake Dam and catch a glimpse of the heart of Fremont Canyon. We will pass the site of an enormous coal pile left by miners of yesteryear. Upon returning to Irvine Park we will proceed to Weir Canyon, where we will ride the trail that was used by the Butterfield Stage that ran between Memphis and Los Angeles. We will see the historical marker known as Canada de los Bueyes where cattle hides were transported to Dana Point. Ages 16 and up. Registration is required. Online Registration
