NEW POLICIES
AT COUNTY PARKS...

Effective January 2, 2006, County of Orange park rangers were authorized to issue civil citations to individuals who violate park ordinances. With the addition of the citation tool, park rangers will have another option at their discretion to better protect the public and natural resources.

This new program will not change the current role of park rangers. Rangers will continue to be hosts, guides and interpreters. This new option will help rangers do their job more effectively.

The Civil Citation Program authorizes rangers to issue citations for violations of certain County ordinances. Fines levied for an ordinance violation can increase by repeated violations.

For more information about the citation program call 714-973-6865 or 866-OCPARKS.

For media inquiries call Wida E. Karim, Public Information Officer, Harbors, Beaches & Parks at 714.973.6870.
